Before sending: what not to do
- Do not open the drive: dust and fingerprints on the platters can ruin the data for good.
- Do not swap the electronics (the board) for another: they hold information specific to that drive.
- Do not run recovery software on a drive that makes noise, heats up or switches off by itself.
- Do not keep switching the drive on again and again to “see if it works”.

Do you carry out data recovery in the Azores?
Yes. The laboratory is in Carcavelos. From the Azores, send the device by the carrier of your choice, well packed: free collection is only available in mainland Portugal. Start with the online request, so that the device is registered straight away under your request number.
Can I drop off the device in person?
Yes, at the laboratory in Carcavelos (Estrada da Rebelva, n.º 1258, Loja A/B), Monday to Friday, except public holidays, from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00. Fill in the online request first.
How much does data recovery cost?
It depends on the device and the type of fault: for hard drives and SSDs, from 100 EUR + VAT for logical faults. The exact amount is in the final quote, which you receive after the diagnosis. If you decline the quote or the Advanced Diagnosis, or if the device cannot be quoted, you pay for the Technical Diagnosis, 36.90 EUR VAT included per device, and the return shipping costs are extra.
How long does it take?
The diagnosis is done in 2 hours for hard drives and SSDs (12 hours for USB sticks and cards), in order of arrival. The recovery depends on the service chosen: 24 hours, urgent (1 to 3 working days), priority (4 to 7 working days), standard (8 to 12 working days) or non-urgent (15 to 30 days), which is cheaper.
What about USB sticks and memory cards?
USB sticks and cards do not have free collection: send them by the carrier of your choice or drop them off at the laboratory. The diagnosis is done in 12 hours and the recovery starts at 150 EUR + VAT.
