We recover deleted files, formatted devices, lost partitions and data erased by a system reinstallation, on hard drives (HDD), SSDs, external drives, RAID and NAS, USB sticks and memory cards. Our own laboratory in Carcavelos, recovering data since 2004, with a success rate of 98.40% in 2025 across all services, audited every year.
Free collection request
Technical Diagnosis in 2 to 4 days* and free collection in mainland Portugal for drives, SSDs, RAID and NAS.
"*" indicates required fields
In short
Stop using the device where the files were and do not install anything on it. Fill in the online request and send us only the device: collection is free in mainland Portugal for drives, SSDs, RAID and NAS. The diagnosis takes 2 to 4 days* and the final quote is placed on your request page. The recovery only begins if you accept it.
Recovering deleted files in the laboratory
When a file is deleted or a device is formatted, the data does not disappear straight away: the space is marked as free and is gradually taken up by whatever is written next. That is why the less the device is used after the mistake, the more can be recovered.
In the laboratory we work on a copy of the device and rebuild the files and folders. We recover deleted files from hard drives (HDD), SSDs, external drives, RAID and NAS, USB sticks and memory cards. An SSD is different: the controller keeps erasing in the background whatever is no longer in use, and every minute it stays switched on reduces what can be recovered. We are the only data recovery laboratory certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 in Portugal.
What happened and what to do
| What happened | What to do |
|---|---|
| You deleted files or emptied the recycle bin | Stop using the device. If it was the computer drive, switch off the computer. |
| You formatted the drive, the USB stick or the card | Do not write anything to it, not even to “test”. |
| You reinstalled the system over it | Stop now: every update writes more data over the old data. |
| You ran a recovery program or chkdsk | Stop and send the device as it is; tell us what was done. |
| You deleted files on an SSD | Switch it off now: the SSD keeps erasing the data in the background. See SSD data recovery. |
| You lost an entire partition | Do not create new partitions or accept “initialise the disk”. |
Types of loss
Deleted by mistake, recycle bin emptied, entire folders lost.
Drive, USB stick or card formatted by mistake or at the request of the computer.
Deleted partition or a drive that shows as “not initialised”.
Windows or macOS reinstalled over the files.
Most common causes: deleting or formatting by mistake, syncs that delete files on another device, system reinstallations, cleaning programs and partitions changed without a backup.
What you should never do
Every new file, every update and every photo can take the place of the ones you want to recover.
Installing a program on the same drive writes over the deleted files.
Formatting or reinstalling “to see if it fixes it” erases even more.
How much it costs to recover deleted files
* The diagnosis of deleted files and formatted devices takes 2 to 4 days, in order of arrival and within opening hours. An Advanced Diagnosis may be needed (for example, when recovery programs or chkdsk have already been run), at a cost, always stated beforehand. In some cases an initial amount is requested, stated in the quote: if there is recovery, it is deducted from the price; if there is not, it covers the recovery attempt and is not refunded.

Frequently asked questions
I deleted files by mistake. What do I do first?
Stop using the device where they were and do not install anything on it, not even recovery programs. If it was the computer drive, switch off the computer. The less is written to the device, the more can be recovered.
How long does the diagnosis take?
2 to 4 days, in order of arrival and within opening hours.
Do I have to pay for the diagnosis?
It costs 30 EUR + VAT (36.90 EUR) and is only charged if you decline the quote or the Advanced Diagnosis, or if the device is so damaged that no quote is possible. An Advanced Diagnosis may be needed, for example when recovery programs or chkdsk have already been run: it costs 184.50 EUR VAT included, is always stated beforehand and is deducted from the service if you go ahead.
Can deleted files still be recovered from an SSD?
Sometimes. The SSD controller keeps erasing in the background whatever is no longer in use, so every minute it stays switched on reduces what can be recovered and full recovery cannot be guaranteed. Switch off the SSD as soon as possible.
How much does it cost to recover deleted files?
For logical faults on drives and SSDs, from 100 EUR + VAT; for USB sticks and cards, from 150 EUR + VAT. The exact amount is in the final quote. You can pay in up to 4 interest-free instalments.
What if I accept the quote and then there is no recovery?
You pay nothing for the recovery service or anything else; return shipping costs are separate. In some cases an initial amount is requested before work starts, always stated in the quote: it is deducted from the price if the recovery succeeds and, if it does not, it covers the attempt and is not refunded. If you accept and do not pay the initial amount within 5 working days, the device goes into storage, at a cost of 1 EUR + VAT per day, up to a maximum of 60 days. After that period, the device is recycled free of charge and the storage remains payable.
